Nanites are objects mentioned in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. They are microscopic machines that are the source of Evos and their strange powers.
During the Fusion Invasion, the resistance on the Earth has been trying to use nanites, and have even infused some of their weapons with these machines.

The Past
In the Past, Rex's nanite began to mess up around Fusion Matter. To keep him safe, Providence ordered him to stay at a Providence base in Townsville Park. However, Rex took the matter into his own hands by sending the Avatar out to discover what was up with his nanites. Notably, in the sewers below Marquee Row, the Avatar found weird dirt that had a connection to the disruption of Rex's nanites.
Dexter later managed to acquire a sample of active nanites from Van Kleiss himself. He is currently the third Unstable Nano transformation.[1]
Origin

Nanites originate from the 2010 animated science fiction television series Generator Rex. In that media, they are source of most of the events within the series, and much of its lore centers around their creation. Depicted as microscopic machines, they have the ability to bond with and alter a person's molecular structure for various effects. Incomplete nanites, however, when activated, will result in a person undergoing severe mutations, becoming Evos. While such nanites might afford some people extraordinary abilities with minimal mutations, most become mindless, and often powerful, monsters.
The nanites were developed as a part of the Nanite Project by a small group of scientists (including Van Kleiss), their goal being to develop nanotechnology for the betterment of mankind. With founding provided by the enigmatic Consortium, the project would produce the nanites, with a batch of completed ones being given to Rex that bestowed him with his Evo powers. However, when the Consortium sought to gain god-like power with the Meta-Nanites, the scientists behind the project, specifically Caesar Salazar, triggered the Nanite Event to keep that power away from them at the cost of spreading countless unfinished nanites across the planet. As a result, over the next six years, Evos would appear all over the globe, which led to the creation of Providence. Rex's powers in particular allowed him to cure most Evos by extracting their active nanites. Eventually, the Consortium managed to acquire the scattered Meta-Nanites, but Rex was able to use them to temporarily become a god-like entity and cure the world's Evo population, though the nanites would remain.
