Each Nano is limited to three powers. There are 20 unique powers, with an additional 16 variations on specific powers. For the first 36 Nanos, each power is available on at least three different Nanos, one for each Nano type (Adaptium, Blastons, and Cosmix). A Nano can only use one power at a time, and to use another the player must visit a Nano Station to change it. Powers will function the same regardless of the Nano's type or level, though type will affect the potency of combat-based powers depending on the enemy's type.
Nano Powers come in two main types: passive and triggered. Passive powers will activate automatically upon summoning a Nano, and drain the Nano's stamina at a steady rate. Triggered powers must be activated by the player, and drain a large amounts of stamina at once instead of steadily (stamina is still drained while the Nano is summoned, but at a much slower rate than passive powers). The effect of either will end once the Nano is put away or runs out of stamina.
In addition to power types, certain powers have different targeting attributes. Some passive powers, such as Run, will either affect the player or their group members, depending on the variety used. Group-based passive powers drain stamina much faster than the single-target variety, but grant the same boost to the player's entire group. Triggered powers, like damage, can't fire at a single target sometimes two targets, in a cone ahead of the player, or over a targeted area.
List of Nano Powers[]
Passive powers[]
Antidote[]
When active, Antidote will let you step and swim in toxic Fusion Matter without taking damage.
Samurai Jack will protect you from toxic Fusion Matter.
Bonus[]
When active, Bonus will increase the amount of Taros rewarded by twenty percent. This applies to both enemies and missions, but not to Shopkeepers or trades between players.
Juniper uses a powerful amulet to give you a jump boost.
Radar[]
When active, Radar shows the position of every enemy within a short distance of the player. The distance is roughly half the radius of the NanoCom radar when at minimum zoom.
Ed knows a lot about monsters, and can show you where they are on your mini-map!
Run[]
When active, Run will increase the player's movement speed from its default 600 class. This power comes in both Self and Group varieties. The speed granted by the Run power is equal to an 800 Class Vehicle. When a run Nano is given a gumball, the speed is 830 class.
When active, Scavenge will increase the amount of Fusion Matter rewarded by twenty percent. This applies to both enemies and missions, but not to races.
Be cautious and get additional Fusion Matter rewards.
Sneak[]
When active, Sneak will reduce the distance at which enemies will become aware of the player. Its effectiveness is based on the difference between the player's level and that of the enemy. This power comes in both Self and Group varieties.
Get sneaky with Mac and avoid the monsters in stealth mode!
Treasure Finder[]
When active, Treasure Finder shows the position of every one of Coco's Eggs (regardless of type) within a short distance of the player. The distance is roughly half the radius of the NanoCom radar when at minimum zoom.
When building an army of Penguins, it helps to start with the eggs.
Triggered powers[]
Damage[]
When triggered, Damage will cause direct damage to any targeted enemies. Point will concentrate damage on a single target. Area will damage a specific target and any enemies within a short distance of that target. Cone will affect all enemies directly in the player's path. Area and Cone do less damage than Point.
Samurai Jack slashes a targeted enemy with his sword.
Drain[]
When triggered, Drain will cause the targeted enemy to slowly lose health. Point will target a specific enemy, while Area will hit the target and any enemies nearby. Drain can sometimes fail though.
Courage howls and delivers additional damage to your target.
Health[]
When triggered, Health restores the player's health by a certain amount. Self will restore a large amount of health. Self Area will heal the player and any other players within a short distance of them, but will not restore as much health as Self. Group will heal the player and any other players in their group as long as they are nearby, but like Self Area will not restore as much health as Self does.
Give yourself a health boost, as well as everyone in the target area.
Leech[]
When triggered, Leech will damage the targeted enemy while simultaneously restoring a small amount of the player's health. It can only affect a single target.
Mandy uses magic to bring you back to safety in an infected zone.
Rocket[]
When triggered, Rocket will provide the player with an additional jump, equal to the height of a regular jump unless the player has collected a Jump powerup from an egg. However, the player must already be in the air for Rocket to function.
In certain Infected Zones, a small rocket model is present in certain locations, which is an indicator that a Nano with a Rocket power is needed to fully traverse the area.
Fizzy Rox Candy will give you a rocket boost through the air.
Sleep[]
When triggered, Sleep will put the targeted enemy to sleep. Enemies affected by Sleep will awaken if attacked. Area will affect the target and any nearby enemies. Self Area will affect any enemies within a short distance of the player. Cone will affect all enemies directly in the player's path. It does not affect most monsters though.
Dr. Ed prescribes sleeping pills to all nearby monsters. Nighty-night!
Snare[]
When triggered, Snare will reduce the movement speed of the target. Cone will affect any enemies in the player's path. Self Area will affect any enemies within a short distance of the player. Target Area will affect the target and any nearby enemies.
This attack ensnares all monsters in the area with mystical energy.
Stun[]
When triggered, Stun will prevent the target from performing any actions for a few seconds, regardless of outside influence. Area will affect the target and any nearby enemies. Cone will affect all enemies directly in the player's path.
The wizard's Evil Eye stuns all enemies in the target zone.
Miscellaneous[]
Revive[]
Nanos with the Revive power let you remain at your current location when you die, instead of respawning on a Resurrect'Em.
This power comes in both Self and Group varieties, which are classified as Passive and Triggered powers, respectively. If a Revive - Self Nano is active when the player is defeated, they are given the option to respawn at their current location. The Group variety will not revive you, but only other people in your group, and it must be triggered for it to work.
If you get KO'd, Numbuh Three revives you with the power of the rainbow.
Unstable Power[]
The Unstable Power is exclusive to the Unstable Nano. Its purpose is to be a placeholder for the next form of the Unstable Nano, and it cannot be switched. It is functionally identical to Recall - Self.
01.09.2009: An issue with the Recall Nano Power was patched.[2]
01.29.2009: Nano Power recharge was tied to the power, not the Nano. For example, if the player is equipped with two Nanos that have the Stun Nano Power, and stun a mob with one Nano and then try to stun again with another Nano, there will be a recharge time.[3]
02.10.2009: Corrected the icon under "Monster Roar" during the Nano Power selection process for the Eduardo Nano.[4]
05.20.2009: A glitch that caused the animation for one of the Bubbles Nano's Nano Powers, Laser Eye, to shoot at everything but the intended target was patched.[5]
07.22.2009: A glitch that caused a Run - Self Nano Power obtained from one of Coco's Eggs to end prematurely when dismissing a Nano with the same Nano Power while the former was still active was patched.[6]
