Aku is a character in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. He is a mighty shapeshifting wizard whom Demongo serves,[3] and the greatest enemy of Samurai Jack.[4]
Physical appearance
Much of Aku's appearance has been unrevealed. What is known is that he is a black entity with a green and white face, a flat nose, a wide mouth with forked fangs, a pair of black, flaming eyes, and black horns.[5]
History
Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall
Fusion Invasion
The Past
In the Past, Aku is one of many villains seeking global domination.[5] However, he is implied to currently be outside of the timeline.[4] Jack himself would wear a tooth from Aku on a necklace of his.[6]
Aku's Tooth was eventually stolen from Jack so Fusion Demongo could absorb its power, leading to the Avatar to go after the tooth and use it to create an Aku Nano following a face-off with Fusion Demongo.[6]
A shadow fragment of Aku was one of the souls stolen by Fusion Demongo. When the stolen souls were freed, the shadow fragment reverted back to its original form and ended up in the Hani-Baba Temple, near the entrance to the Hall of Heroes, where it was retrieved by the Avatar.[7] Three more shadow fragments from Aku were soon after retrieved from the Great Shellslugs, Meteoric Guardians, and Scoria Cephalopods in Fuse's Lair by the Avatar, who took them to the Dark Glade and plunged them into the Dark Tree where they were destroyed for good. When the Avatar then confronted Demongo, Aku's former right-hand man, to known whether he was working for him once again, Demongo refused to reveal whether he was working for Aku, but went on to say that "Aku is not here, but he is close. And he is watching."[4]
Personality
An evil entity bend on ruling the world,[5] Aku is highly dangerous, with Samurai Jack having estimated him to possibly be a threat even greater than Lord Fuse.[4] His lack of presence in the Fusion Invasion is similarly a source of relief to Dexter, suggesting how great a danger Aku poses to the world.[4]
Powers and abilities
Possessing the title of "Dark Wizard", Aku seems to have the power to back that up, with just one fragment of him possessing a power level that is off the chart.[7]
- Shape-shfiting: According to Bob O'Ganoosh, Aku is capable of shapeshifting.[3]
Origin
Aku, from Samurai Jack.
Aku originates from the 2001 American animated action-adventure dystopian television series Samurai Jack. In that media, he is the primary antagonist of the series. A personification of primordial evil, Aku is inhumanly cruel, sadistic, manipulative, as well as power-hungry and seeking to spread misery and hopelessness everywhere he goes. As revealed over time, he also has a wise-guy streak. He possesses innumerable demonic powers, the most prominent being shapeshifting.
The fragment of a force of ultimate evil that was vanquished by Odin, Ra, and Rama, Aku landed on Earth long ago, where he eventually gained sapience and form when the Emperor attempted to destroy him. Though Aku was sealed away by the Emperor with a magic sword, the wizard eventually returned and conquered the Emperor's homeland. When the Emperor's son, Jack, confronted Aku years later, Aku sent Jack into the future before Jack could land the final blow. During Jack's absence, Aku took over the world, bringing on an age of oppression and lawlessness to Earth. When Jack reappeared, Aku focused on keeping Jack from returning to the past and avert that future. After fifty years, Aku managed to capture Jack, only for his allies to rise up against Aku, whose daughter, Ashi, helped Jack back to the past where he slew Aku and ended his threat, though at the cost of Ashi's existence.
Trivia
- Aku is the only character that appears in the opening of the Academy that is not an NPC in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall, not counting Ben's alien alteregos.
- According to FFU member Virt, the original developers said that Aku is not powerful enough to defeat Planet Fusion on his own. This is due to the theme of the game being teamwork, so they didn't want a single character to be able to beat Fuse by themselves.[8]
