| “ | Just because the Caterplug looks harmless doesn't mean it is. While the Caterplug may not be Fuse's toughest minion, attack one when you're unprepared and you're in for a shock! | ” |
– Quick Start Game Guide, Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall Victory Pack[1]
The Caterplug is an enemy that appears in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. It is a species of Fusion Monsters that is used in Fuse's Army.
Physical appearance
A Caterplug, from the Quick Start Game Guide.
The Caterplug is a caterpillar-based Fusion Monster, and is noted to be harmless in appearance.[1] It possesses a soft and elastic base body made of Fusion Matter whose top is covered with five segments of wooden plating that is held together by dark gray metal binds and screws. In addition, it has six power cords with thin golden plugs at their ends coming sprawling out of the opening on the front segment, and from its rear segment dangles a large and black type C outlet plug. For feet, it has four pairs of stubby feet made from computer mice. Lastly, it has Fusion Matter all over its body.
Gameplay
In gameplay, the Caterplugs are enemy monsters that the player fights at various points in the game, either optionally, or as a part of a mission objective. To target a Caterplug, align the Avatar with it to make its information window appear on the top of the screen. Should its Health Bar reach zero when battling it, the Fusion Matter animating the Caterplug will break up, and the Caterplug will disintegrate.[2] The player will then automatically receive some Fusion Matter and Taros as reward. However, while the Caterplug's Taro reward remains consistent, its Fusion Matter reward will decrease for each level the Avatar is above the Caterplug; if the Avatar is six levels higher than the Caterplug or more, no Fusion Matter is rewarded. Sometimes, the player also automatically receives loot from defeated Caterplugs in the form of C.R.A.T.E.s.
In battle, the Caterplugs target the Avatar when they get close enough. However, the higher the Avatar's level is, the closer they can get to a Caterplug without it attacking them. Once they begin fighting, the Caterplugs will continue attacking until either they are destroyed, the Avatar is defeated, or the Avatar moves too far away from their point of origin. If the Avatar runs away from them, the Caterplugs will follow them until they get too far away from their area of roaming, at which point they will return, where they will regain their full health instantly. Notably, while retreating, they will be invulnerable to attacks. Also, once defeated, a Caterplug will respawn after fifty seconds.
