The Dagger Mantis is an enemy that appears in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. It is a species of Fusion Monsters that is used in Fuse's Army.
Physical appearance
A Dagger Mantis, from the Quick Start Game Guide.
The Dagger Mantis is a mantis-based Fusion Monster made of leaves and other withered plants. It possesses a narrow head with brown-orange mandibles, large red eyes, and two plant stem-like antennae. The rest of its body is made of Fusion Matter contained inside a body made of twigs and leaves. It also possesses a thin red-brown prothorax with two pair of arms: one large pair on top and a tiny pair on the bottom. Notably, its top arms are serrated with very large brown leaves for raptorial forelegs while its lower arms have exceptionally tiny claws for raptorial forelegs by comparison. It also has four insectoid legs with sharp ends and light brown cover on top of them, and a very large abdomen that resembles a brown plant bud, but with a center made of Fusion Matter.
Gameplay
In gameplay, the Dagger Mantises are enemy monsters that the player fights at various points in the game, either optionally, or as a part of a mission objective. To target a Dagger Mantis, align the Avatar with it to make its information window appear on the top of the screen. Should its Health Bar reach zero when battling it, the Fusion Matter animating the Dagger Mantis will break up, and the Dagger Mantis will disintegrate.[2] The player will then automatically receive some Fusion Matter and Taros as reward. However, while the Dagger Mantis's Taro reward remains consistent, its Fusion Matter reward will decrease for each level the Avatar is above the Dagger Mantis; if the Avatar is six levels higher than the Dagger Mantis or more, no Fusion Matter is rewarded. Sometimes, the player also automatically receives loot from defeated Dagger Mantises in the form of C.R.A.T.E.s, Nano Potions, and Weapon Boosts.
In battle, the Dagger Mantises target the Avatar when they get close enough. However, the higher the Avatar's level is, the closer they can get to a Dagger Mantis without it attacking them. Once they begin fighting, the Dagger Mantises will continue attacking until either they are destroyed, the Avatar is defeated, or the Avatar moves too far away from their point of origin. If the Avatar runs away from them, the Dagger Mantises will follow them until they get too far away from their area of roaming, at which point they will return, where they will regain their full health instantly. Notably, while retreating, they will be invulnerable to attacks. Also, once defeated, a Dagger Mantis will respawn after one hundred and fifty seconds.

In the Past, the Dagger Mantises would fight the soldiers opposing the Fusion Invasion.
Behavior
Like other Fusion Monsters, the Dagger Mantises are aggressive, hostile, and spit out Fusion Matter wherever they go.
Powers and abilities
Skills the Dagger Mantises have exhibited include:
- Fusion Matter Explosion: The Dagger Mantises possess the Eruption Attack, which lets them create a localized explosion of Fusion Matter from the ground. When launching this attack, the Dagger Mantises make the ground below their opponent glow with Fusion Matter for a few seconds before causing a pillar of Fusion Matter to erupt.
- Nano Drain: The Dagger Mantises possess the Corruption Attack, which lets them drain Nanos of their stamina. When they are attacking a Nano, they will start to glow, which is the wind up, before throwing an attack that will trump their opponent's Nano. Should it make contact, the Nano will lose a lot of stamina. Conversely, if their opponent drops their current Nano and brings out one that deflects the attack back at the Dagger Mantises, the Nano will get a boost in stamina. Should the Dagger Mantises launch their Corruption Attack on an opponent without a Nano out though, the former will take damage.
- Speed: The Dagger Mantis can stab more times per minute than a hummingbird flaps its wings.[1]
- Stun Inducement: The Dagger Mantises possess the Stun - Cone power, which can immobilize their opponents completely for a few moments.
