– Quick Start Game Guide, Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall Victory Pack[1]
The Great Shellworm is an enemy that appears in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. It is a species of Fusion Monsters that is used in Fuse's Army.
Physical appearance
A Great Shellworm, from the Quick Start Game Guide.
The Great Shellworm resembles an amalgam of fossilized bones and a tortoise. It possesses a grayish dark blue tortoise shell with pointy spikes along the outer rim, and a lower body made of a mix of brown dirt and Fusion Matter. Up front, it has a neckless head made of the same materials as its body, but with two featureless red eyes and a mouth with a green maw and two fangs protruding from its jaw. It also has two arms with four-fingered hands made of fossilized gray bones held together by Fusion Matter. In addition, it has webbing between its fingers that are made of Fusion Matter and various forms of dirt. Extending from down its pelvis is also a fossilized and spiky spine held together by Fusion Matter, with a tail tip consisting of the skull of a Ceratopsian dinosaur, compete with green eyes, two horns on its nose, and spikes along its frill.
Gameplay
In gameplay, the Great Shellworms are enemy monsters that the player fights at various points in the game, either optionally, or as a part of a mission objective. To target a Great Shellworm, align the Avatar with it to make its information window appear on the top of the screen. Should its Health Bar reach zero when battling it, the Fusion Matter animating the Great Shellworm will break up, and the Great Shellworm will disintegrate.[2] The player will then automatically receive some Fusion Matter and Taros as reward. However, while the Great Shellworm's Taro reward remains consistent, its Fusion Matter reward will decrease for each level the Avatar is above the Great Shellworm. Sometimes, the player also automatically receives loot from defeated Great Shellworms in the form of C.R.A.T.E.s, Nano Potions, and Weapon Boosts.
In battle, the Great Shellworms target the Avatar when they get close enough. However, the higher the Avatar's level is, the closer they can get to a Great Shellworm without it attacking them. Once they begin fighting, the Great Shellworms will continue attacking until either they are destroyed, the Avatar is defeated, or the Avatar moves too far away from their point of origin. If the Avatar runs away from them, the Great Shellworms will follow them until they get too far away from their area of roaming, at which point they will return, where they will regain their full health instantly. Notably, while retreating, they will be invulnerable to attacks. Also, once defeated, a Great Shellworm will respawn after one hundred and fifty seconds.

The Past

In the Past, the Great Shellworms were used by Fuse to guard his lair from the Precipice.[1] While there, they would fight the soldiers opposing the Fusion Invasion.
Behavior
Like other Fusion Monsters, the Great Shellworms are aggressive, hostile, and spit out Fusion Matter wherever they go.
Powers and abilities
The Great Shellworms are exactly like their Shellworm cousins, except noticeably stronger.[1] Skills they have exhibited include:
- Fusion Matter Explosion: The Great Shellworms possess the Eruption Attack, which lets them create a localized explosion of Fusion Matter from the ground. When launching this attack, the Great Shellworms make the ground below their opponent glow with Fusion Matter for a few seconds before causing a pillar of Fusion Matter to erupt.
- Nano Drain: The Great Shellworms possess the Corruption Attack, which lets them drain Nanos of their stamina. When they are attacking a Nano, they will start to glow, which is the wind up, before throwing an attack that will trump their opponent's Nano. Should it make contact, the Nano will lose a lot of stamina. Conversely, if their opponent drops their current Nano and brings out one that deflects the attack back at the Great Shellworms, the Nano will get a boost in stamina. Should the Great Shellworms launch their Corruption Attack on an opponent without a Nano out though, the former will take damage.
- Potion Consumption: The Great Shellworms possess the Battery Drain, which lets them launch attacks that can drain the Avatar's supply of Nano Potions and Weapon Boosts by a certain amount.
