– Quick Start Game Guide, Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall Victory Pack[1]
The Cryptworm is an enemy that appears in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. It is a species of Fusion Monsters that is used in Fuse's Army.
Physical appearance
A Cryptworm, from the Quick Start Game Guide.
The Cryptworm is enormous,[1] and resembles a bloated brown maggot. It possesses eight stubby and spiky legs, a round mouth with sharp gray teeth around it, sharp gray spikes around its chin area, and two swollen red eyes with small black pupils. In addition, across its back, on top of a moss-like layer of Fusion Matter, lies a pieces of dried-up grass adorned with several gravestones with Fusion Matter on them and spiky metal fences.
Gameplay
In gameplay, the Cryptworms are enemy monsters that the player fights at various points in the game, either optionally, or as a part of a mission objective. To target a Cryptworm, align the Avatar with it to make its information window appear on the top of the screen. Should its Health Bar reach zero when battling it, the Fusion Matter animating the Cryptworm will break up, and the Cryptworm will disintegrate.[2] The player will then automatically receive some Fusion Matter and Taros as reward. However, while the Cryptworm's Taro reward remains consistent, its Fusion Matter reward will decrease for each level the Avatar is above the Cryptworm; if the Avatar is six levels higher than the Cryptworm or more, no Fusion Matter is rewarded. Sometimes, the player also automatically receives loot from defeated Cryptworms in the form of C.R.A.T.E.s, Nano Potions, and Weapon Boosts.
In battle, the Cryptworms target the Avatar when they get close enough. However, the higher the Avatar's level is, the closer they can get to a Cryptworm without it attacking them. Once they begin fighting, the Cryptworms will continue attacking until either they are destroyed, the Avatar is defeated, or the Avatar moves too far away from their point of origin. If the Avatar runs away from them, the Cryptworms will follow them until they get too far away from their area of roaming, at which point they will return, where they will regain their full health instantly. Notably, while retreating, they will be invulnerable to attacks. Also, once defeated, a Cryptworm will respawn after one hundred and fifty seconds.
History
Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall
Before the Invasion
The Cryptworms are truly ancient creatures, with some estimates dating them back to the time of the dinosaurs.[1]
Fusion Invasion
The Past
In the Past, the Cryptworms would fight the soldiers opposing the Fusion Invasion.
Behavior
Like other Fusion Monsters, the Cryptworms are aggressive, hostile, and spit out Fusion Matter wherever they go. Like the Graveworms, they feed off the dead and have done so for such a long time that they are truly hungry.[1]
Powers and abilities
Skills the Cryptworms have exhibited include:
- Fusion Matter Explosion: The Cryptworms possess the Eruption Attack, which lets them create a localized explosion of Fusion Matter from the ground. When launching this attack, the Cryptworms make the ground below their opponent glow with Fusion Matter for a few seconds before causing a pillar of Fusion Matter to erupt.
- Nano Drain: The Cryptworms possess the Corruption Attack, which lets them drain Nanos of their stamina. When they are attacking a Nano, they will start to glow, which is the wind up, before throwing an attack that will trump their opponent's Nano. Should it make contact, the Nano will lose a lot of stamina. Conversely, if their opponent drops their current Nano and brings out one that deflects the attack back at the Cryptworms, the Nano will get a boost in stamina. Should the Cryptworms launch their Corruption Attack on an opponent without a Nano out though, the former will take damage.
- Potion Consumption: The Cryptworms possess the Battery Drain, which lets them launch attacks that can drain the Avatar's supply of Nano Potions and Weapon Boosts by a certain amount.
