The Alpha Ape is an enemy that appears in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. It is a species of Fusion Monsters that is used in Fuse's Army, and the boss version of the Dire Ape.
Physical appearance
Essentially a larger version of the Dire Ape, the Alpha Ape is a simian-based Fusion Monster that resembles a gorilla. Most of its body is made up of vines, roots, dirt, and scrap metal that are held together by Fusion Matter that leak all over it. It has as well a massive and muscular torso with equally oversized arms with clawed five-fingered hands, a relatively small pelvis, two lion-like tails with one of them having yellow and black stripes, and rather short hindleg with thick thighs and lion-like paws in comparison to the rest of its body. It also has a simian-like face with a prominent brow, two red eyes, white teeth with fangs protruding from its jaw, and a large mane made of leaves.
Gameplay
In gameplay, the Alpha Apes are enemy monsters that the player can fight at various points in the game, either optionally, or as a part of a mission objective. To target a Alpha Ape, align the Avatar with it to make its information window appear on the top of the screen. Should its Health Bar reach zero when battling it, the Fusion Matter animating the Alpha Ape will break up, and the Alpha Ape will disintegrate.[1] The player will then automatically receive some Fusion Matter and Taros as reward. However, while the Alpha Ape's Taro reward remains consistent, its Fusion Matter reward will decrease for each level the Avatar is above the Alpha Ape; if the Avatar is six levels higher than the Alpha Ape or more, no Fusion Matter is rewarded. Sometimes, the player also automatically receives loot from defeated Alpha Apes in the form of C.R.A.T.E.s, Weapon Boosts, and Nano Potions.
In battle, the Alpha Apes target the Avatar when they get close enough. However, the higher the Avatar's level is, the closer they can get to a Alpha Ape without it attacking them. Once they begin fighting, the Alpha Apes will continue attacking until either they are destroyed, the Avatar is defeated, or the Avatar moves too far away from their point of origin. If the Avatar runs away from them, the Alpha Apes will follow them until they get too far away from their area of roaming, at which point they will return, where they will regain their full health instantly. Notably, while retreating, they will be invulnerable to attacks. Also, once defeated, a Alpha Ape will respawn after one hundred and fifty seconds.

In the Past, the Alpha Apes would fight the soldiers opposing the Fusion Invasion.
Behavior
Like other Fusion Monsters, the Alpha Apes are aggressive, hostile, and spit out Fusion Matter wherever they go.
Powers and abilities
Skills the Alpha Apes have exhibited include:
- Fusion Matter Explosion: The Alpha Apes possess the Eruption Attack, which lets them create a localized explosion of Fusion Matter from the ground. When launching this attack, the Alpha Apes make the ground below their opponent glow with Fusion Matter for a few seconds before causing a pillar of Fusion Matter to erupt.
- Nano Drain: The Alpha Apes possess the Corruption Attack, which lets them drain Nanos of their stamina. When they are attacking a Nano, they will start to glow, which is the wind up, before throwing an attack that will trump their opponent's Nano. Should it make contact, the Nano will lose a lot of stamina. Conversely, if their opponent drops their current Nano and brings out one that deflects the attack back at the Alpha Apes, the Nano will get a boost in stamina. Should the Alpha Apes launch their Corruption Attack on an opponent without a Nano out though, the former will take damage.
- Stun Inducement: The Alpha Apes possess the Stun - Cone power, which can immobilize their opponents completely for a few moments.
